QWAK,Got a deal on GAS CANS! :)

QWAK,I just got a deal on GAS CANS!!:23_30_104: 4 -- 5Gal. jerry cand and a STAINLESS STEEL nozzel for $127.00 and FREE SHIPING!

http://www.deutscheoptik.com/catalog...oducts_id=1030

They also have some CLUNKEY but GOOD and very CHEEP -- NIGH VISION Banaculars!

http://www.deutscheoptik.com/catalog...roducts_id=778

You may want to check out the site as there are a lot of high quality military stuff there fairly cheep BUT a fiew things did seem way OVER priced to me.:dontknow:

BTW: I bought 6 of theas jerry cans about two yeas ago from Sportsmans Guide and the Nozzle I bought from THEM was a CHEEP imitation -- the shaft the LATCH is on BENT first time I used it causing GAS to leak when I was filling the generator. That could be very dangerous!:36_1_25::favorites21:

They are just as tough and in some ways better as the old GI jerry cans we had in the army! Theas cost less than HALF what they want for the GI kind every ware I have looked!:36_1_11::23_30_104:

Re: QWAK,Got a deal on GAS CANS! :)

QWAK,Avalon, Max is OK but with the Lime Disease and the Iron Blood problem she just does not have much energy from what she has told me.:23_1_22:

Than and the fact she is about FED UP with all the GENDER BASHING from some of the men -- so she does not post as often.

I got a real GOOD :confused_ma: "BULLS EYE" rash my self a fiew days ago -- out here there are ticks every ware and totaly UNAVOIDABLE -- you would have to exist in a BUBBLE not to get bit!

I have minimal energy my self but not shure it is LIME or just geting to be 60!:dontknow::111::4_1_72:

I am PREPED to the RAFTERS even got SHELVES hanging FROM the RAFTERS!:confused_m:

I figure it will turn our one of two ways: Either I have been CRAZY as a LOON since 1973 when I started PREPING:confused_ma::confused_m: OR --- I was a WHOLE lot SMARTER:thinkey: than any of THEM ot even MY SELF --- BELIEVED I was or AM! :hahaha::thinkey::dontknow:

It shure SEEMS like we will find out REAL SOON :36_1_25:

One thing I never even concidered for PREPS was a STRAIT JACKET :452::signs14: They will have to BRING there OWN -- and CATCH ME first!:111::4_1_72:

Very nice! I like steel jerrycans for gas storage. Last September, during our 10 day Ike-related power outage, I made good use of the gas I'd stashed. Rather than pour from the jerrycans directly into the generator, I used a Super Siphon (Google it to see what I mean) to transfer gas from the jerrycans into a 2 gal gas can. This let me filter the fuel before it went into the generator.

Unless the nozzle is vented, you still get the glub-glub type intermittent pouring from the jerrycan. By using the Super Siphon, you avoid this hassle.

Thanks, Duck.

I ordered 8.

AgAuGal,

If you fill them and then hang them upside down, they might dribble a little bit but the lids are tight enough that I wouldn't expect any fumes if I had them in the back of the station wagon.

Of course, I LIKE the smell of diesel in the morning!

No I posted a wanted ad, and a bunch of people emailed me back! Just met a guy this morning and picked up 2 red ones. Quick question though, for anyone really. If there was diesel in these, maybe like a 1/4" at the bottom do I need to flush these out and if so how? and another question. I have one that is dry and has quite a bit or rust in it, how can I refinish these so they don't clog fuel filters and such?

Thanks all, mainly duck for the inspiration around here!

QWAK,Lucky225,I have 3 or 4 old GI stile JERRY CANS and one has a pin hole leak on the bottom ROLLED seam and another has slight rust. I sent off for a gas tank repair sealer --it is called "POR15" -- not cheep but should get them back in service. :s1:

http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydep...FQ0aawod6G-cjw

This is another brand that may be cheeper.

As for the diesel,NO big deal, just dump out as much as you can  You can also put a rag in the can to absorb the last bit in the bottom if you wish but in 5 gallons of GAS you will have diluted the diesel it will not be a problem. :452:

It is NICE that the deal I found and the cans are NEW and neever been used but YOU got a better price:wink::yes: I am going to paint 4 red for the GAS and keep 4 green for diesel --- I use a little diesel each time I start a wood fire in the stove or boiler for the hot tub. I use old dish detergent bottles and just give a little squirt. Just got to be carfull as on hot coals you can get a BACK FLASH that can suprise you!:36_1_25::4_1_72:

I have more of those cans than I know what to do with - 560 litres worth. Got a LOAD at a house auction from a guy who died, they were sold for $5 each. I spray the green ones with red crosses for 2-stroke mix (boat engines), yellow crosses for straight gas, and blue crosses for gas with Stabil or other fuel stabiliser. And black for lamp kerosene/paraffin.
Too many accidents with people filling the boat with kerosene, or the lamps with gas (burns very brightly!), now when I have family over the first rule is "READ THE F*CKING SIGN IN THE WORKSHOP" - which tells them what fuel to use...

Duck, I have tooooo many 2T engines that are blown because people straight-gassed them - hence the sign! The workshop is already barely tall enough to stand uo in, so you HAVE to knock your head off the sign before you find the light switch!
I don't lend out my Stihl saws any more - I just give my cousin the cheap chinese one and tell her where she needs to stop to get a new chain put on it.
